Work With Us

Volunteering with wildlife

These sites are our own way of working abroad but sometimes we want to be more than just keyboard warriors. While we do welcome hard cash for advertising there are other ways to be included on our sites.

Are You a NGO or Volunteer Organisation Looking for Volunteers?

Would you be interested in having us volunteer with you for a time? Our proposal is we visit without paying your usual volunteer fees and instead pay in kind by offering our advertising and editorial space. Through our five websites and blogs on long term travel, gap years, career breaks, volunteering and working abroad we can be a big help finding future volunteers for your project or organisation and, who knows, might even prove to be a handy pair of hands ourselves. For past examples of our work please visit Volunteer Work in Kanchanaburi with Safari Volunteers and How to Walk a Lion.

Trade Your Spare Room or Seat for Our Advertising Space

We find a fair trade is far better than a hard sell and are always grateful whenever we are offered a place to rest our weary heads after a busy day exploring your region or city. In return we will offer advertising on one or more of our websites, a permanent thank you link from PAYAway and mention your business in any suitable travel articles we write about your area. Tours and tickets are are also incredibly useful to us as travellers and backpackers.

While free publicity is guaranteed in the advertising sections of our sites, we cannot promise to review your hotel, hostel, guest house or tour. Though if we can find an interesting angle to write about or review your accommodation we will try our best to do so. Past reviews have included De Lanna Hotel, Chiang Mai, Caves, Chimneys and Stone Houses in Cappadocia, A Good Room Helps to Defeat Our Bangkok Curse: A Review of Lub d Siam Square and Lub d Silom, and Soft Adventure in Northern Thailand: Lisu Lodge.

And if your business is in need of staff then we can help you through the premium services of our recruitment website, the Jobs Abroad Bulletin. We know our service works. Brandon Fralic is one volunteer we helped find for a cave hotel in Cappadocia. He emailed us from the same room we stayed in:

“I never planned on going to Turkey. To be honest, I knew almost nothing about the country before traveling there. Unsatisfied with the 9-5 routine, one day I decided to start hunting for an adventure. Lots of possibilities turned up – teaching abroad, volunteering here and there. It was overwhelming. I stumbled upon the Jobs Abroad Bulletin and was immediately hooked by their ‘Volunteer Work in Cappadocia’ posting. The region’s landscape looked so surreal and enchanting that I just had to go.”

Our blog The Working Traveller can also be helpful for finding hostel staff. TWT is listed on the first page of Google for the search terms "hostel jobs abroad" "hostel work abroad" "hostel work exchanges" and "hostel volunteer work". Much of this is down to our popular article Hostel Jobs Worldwide: 347 Hostels & Guest Houses Open to Volunteer Work Exchanges.

At the time of writing, a Google search for "volunteer work in sukhothai" will bring up in first place our post Volunteering At Home in Sukhothai, while search for "volunteer work in cappadocia" and FIVE of our websites appear on the first page, including the post we wrote for a hotel offering Volunteer Work in Fairyland. These are just two examples of how we have helped hostel and hotel owners find staff for their businesses.

Travel Product Reviews

Is your product a waste of beer money or will it still be found in our bags - old and worn, but still loved - in ten years’ time? We cannot guarantee a good review but we do promise to provide an honest one. Whether you are launching a new product or want an opinion on a current one, we might be interested in road testing your wares. In the past we have tried out the Hoboroll and Adventure Underwear.

If you are interested in any of our suggestions above, or if you have your own ideas how we can work with you, please contact either Shane Donovan or Deirdre Higgins.
